Abstract
A problem to be considered in high strength springs, plated and unplated, hydrogen embrittlement can be reduced by careful processing techniques. For critical springs, mechanical plating is feasible. Accelerated tests employing strips of hardened 1075 steel enable engineers to estimate the degree of hydrogen embrittlement in steel springs.
