Abstract
This entry contains a report regarding an inspection of the paintings the Ajanta Caves in India. The shrines were excavated out of a cliff of traprock by Buddhist excavators and sculptors to form magnificent temples and monasteries decorated with sculptures and wall paintings of the finest quality. They are considered to be among the greatest of artistic monuments of the world. The evaluation states that they are being appropriately cared for in contradiction of various press reports at that time.
