Most people are introduced to the usage of plastics via polyester resin, generally either by laying it up with glass reinforcement as fiberglass , or by using it for embedments, or for simple, small castings into preformed rubber molds. This article describes some of the problems of casting with plastics, particularly the exothermic heat factor and the shrinkage factor.
