Abstract
This paper reviews the art transit environment in terms of vibration and, to a lesser extent, shock and continues with a discussion of results from an experimental study in this area. The study was part of a larger multiclient research project to examine the use of random vibration techniques to simulate transit vibration and, thereby, evaluate alternative methods of shipping and packing goods. The art transit work was commissioned by the Getty Conservation Institute and the Tate Gallery.
