Abstract
The appearance, analysis, metallographic structure and hardness of the beam are reported. It is concluded that the beam can be classified as a porous mass of wrought iron, built up from several small pieces and welded together. The smaller pieces were produced by areduction process direct from the ore, the low sulfur level indicating that charcoal was used as fuel in all production processes. -- AATA
