Abstract
Historical review of the research and techniques of graft-finishing of silk in Japan after the second world war, about 1950-1984. As the monomer methyl metacrylate and hydroxyethylmetacrylate have been successfully used, and in late 1970s metacrylamide began to be used as a successful monomer. Polymerization mechanism and the effects of graft-finishing on the properties of silk were discussed. Twenty three patent numbers were given. -- AATA
