Deals with the weathering of steels and the mechanisms of their self-protection, studied with special attention to the effect of copper in steel. The aggregation of the rust layer is influenced by two factors, the time of exposure and the presence of beneficial elements in the alloy. Copper inhibits the growth of primary colloidal particles of rust. This effect of the copper increases the protective nature of the rust layer. -- AATA
