Abstract
Discusses the measures taken to protect and/or record small but significant rural structures in France, such as bridges, communal ovens, windmills, etc., and especially roadway crosses, calvaries, chapels, menhirs, and dolmens, that are now property of the state. Presents recommendations concerning the future of these monuments in France and poses a number of questions concerning the future of the same type of cultural patrimony in other ICOMOS countries.
