Abstract
Uranium ions are taken up rapidly by the apatite of bones and so, in a comparatively short period of ion contact with groundwater, the bones may reach equilibrium with the uranium in solution. This paper briefly discusses the analysis of uranium and other elements from a large number of bones of extant and extinct animals from Fossil Cave near Tantanoola, southeast of South Australia.
