Some 38 cloths of aresta were analyzed and found to share several important features, such as warps, wefts, weave structure, and pattern repeat. The cloths were divided into two categories based on the fineness and density of their warp threads. All of the cloths of aresta use more than two weaves in the passage of each lat; therefore, a drawloom must have been used in some unconventional way. Six faults in the weave also suggest that an alternative weaving method was used. It is believed that the drawloom used for the cloths of aresta was without shafts for the ground weave.
