Abstract
The author studied the Roman period skeletal remains from Herculaneum. The health conditions of the population were analyzed and compared with the nutrition and social structure background as is known from archaeological and historical sources. Atomic absorption spectrophotometry was used for the determination of calcium, strontium, magnesium and zinc; phosphorus was determined using a spectrophotometer. -- AATA
