Abstract
Historical and more recent attempts to quantify indoor particulate pollution are summarized. Sources of pollutants of indoor air are noted: outdoor air; visitors' skin and clothes; smoking; cooking; live plants; and treatment chemicals for air-conditioning systems. The size ranges of particulate pollutants are presented, and the effects of and specifications for filtering systems and vacuum cleaners to combat them are discussed.
