Abstract
The tradition of band samplers in embroidery is universal. However, the finest examples are from 17th-century England. Band samplers consist of a parallel arrangement of borders worked in a wide range of stitches and techniques. Embroidery skills were practiced and developed on these samplers. Methods and materials are presented for a contemporary band sampler called Tulips and Stars.
