A wax anatomical model (part of a set of 7) believed to have been made in Florence, Italy in the late 18th century suffered from sagging on its armature, buckling ankles and a broken neck. At least 2 past restorations had been attempted to correct the problems. A successful treatment which required cutting the wax torso to reach and shorten armature inside the model is described. Some of the problems inherent in wax as a modelling material are discussed. 4 references, photographs, diagrams, radiagraphs.
