Abstract
The fifteenth century cross includes 74 sculptures, some of them over 3. 20m high. The woodwork and the finish of the crucifix are described in detail. Following its removal from the Cathedral in 1942, extensive restoration work was carried out, including the removal of old repaint, the consolidation of the original finish with dilute PVA or wax, the reinforcement of the wood with dilute epoxy resin and protection against re-infestation by wormwood with Xylamon BV Spezial. The crucifix has been replaced in the Cathedral.
