Abstract
A furniture finish consisting of linseed oil, turpentine and vinegar, with a small amount of methylated spirits, is popular in museums and elsewhere. However, the finish attracts dust; Darkens with time; Leaves finger marks; and stays soft and sticky. A new formula, consisting of reagent ethyl alcohol, odorless kerosene and glacial acetic acid, is proposed.
