The influence of heavy metals on the formation and degradation of vegetable drying oils is discussed. The factors influencing their activity are described. Model reactions are used to explain the interaction of the cations and the oils. Possible heterogeneous catalytic activity of the pigments as such is also described, again using model systems and reactions. References.
