Abstract
Although further work remains to be done, particularly on heavily dyed and light-scattering samples, it appears to the authors that microspectrophotometry could become an effective and routine technique that would greatly enhance the value of fiber comparisons. On suitable occasions solution spectrophotometry and thin-layer chromatography on dye extracts could be used to deal with problem samples of to provide additional discrimination.
