Abstract
The Fe-Cl<sup>-</sup>H<sub>2</sub>O system was investigated previously with a chloride concentration of 0.1 molar. This investigation calculates potential-pH diagrams for this system at higher chloride concentration, over a temperature range of 25° to 250°C. These were found to give similar areas of stability for FeCl<sup>+</sup>+</sup> and FeCl<sub>2</sub> as found at lower Cl<sup>-</sup> concentrations. This work was undertaken to assess the suitability of using salt repositories for burying canisters containing nuclear waste. Situations of high chloride concentrations may be experienced in excavations. -- AATA
