In the 19th century, the church underwent changes and regained its exterior aspect of today. The plan of the monument is that of a cross with free arms, while the walls made of emplecton, with an inside retreat give special stability to the whole structure. The fresco wall painting includes the whole surface of the inside porch. Because of the humidity and inadequate works it underwent a serious degradation. the success of the wall painting restoration is closely connected with the quality of the architectural preserving and we cannot but regret the use of improper materials such as concrete, harmful both as far as the preserving in time is concerned as well as their original stylistic aspect.
