Describes the application of an underwater survey method, the direct survey method, to underwater archaeological projects such as the Mary Rose and other wreck sites which was developed to provide a fast, simple, and accurate technique with quantifiable error, especially in limited visibility. This method is particularly useful in sites with complex three-dimensional architecture, such as insides of wrecks. It uses measurements taken from datum points directly down to the object being surveyed, eliminating the plumb line. A computer program processes the results.
