Presentation of a technique for the cradling of panel paintings. The case study discussed here concerns the painting Head of Jew by N. Grigorescu with a mahogany support damage by wrong cradling. The new method is based on the theory of forces existing in the strucute of the materials; two successive layers of battens made of the same wood are applied, the first one perpendicular to the original panel and the second one parallel to the original panel. The adhesive used is bee's wax and the treatment is perfectly reversible. -- ICCROM
