The cultural remains were discovered either immediately under the roadway covering or at a shallow level. The cultural layer is damaged extensively by contemporary soil disturbances: the undamaged fragments cover a 20 square meter area. Flints, splint bones, paint, and coals are sparsely distributed in a layer of loamy sand up to 20 centimeters thick. An assemblage of mammoth bones appeared to be a ring fence surrounding a large construction. The processed flint was found between the bones and under them. A small fraction of the finds were implements such as scrapers, burins, and blades with blunted edges. A bone industry was also indicated at the site. The site dates from the latter half of the Late Palaeolithic of the Russian Plain. -- AATA
