Abstract
Detailed study of the inscription on the riser at the foot of God in the Mystic Lamb. The theological meaning is explained in the light of the <i>Tractatus de corpore Cristi</i> written by the Prior of St. Bavon, Ghent, Olivier de Langhe, and completed in 1440. The difference between the surface inscription and the underdrawing suggests that the iconographic program was composed in neither Hubert's nor Jan van Eyck's workshop, but by a theologian. -- AATA
