Abstract
A climatic chamber was constructed for a laboratory evaluation of the chemical and physical parameters of the SO<sub>2</sub>-wet marble-airborne particles system. In this chamber both prefixed climatic conditions and realistic pollution levels (SO<sub>2</sub> and particles) are easily obtained. The microscale pattern of marble deterioration can be observed in detail by using radioactive SO<sub>2</sub>.
