Abstract
The ultraviolet properties of films that have useful polarizing properties at wavelenghts as short as 215 mmu are reported. Large-diameter films may be obtained, and the material is not bleached by intense ultraviolet radiation. The use of stretched polyvinyl alcohol and cleaved mica sheets as retardation plates is reviewed.
