The author, who is chairman of the Dutch Federation of Industrial Heritage (FIEN), gives an overview of the rise and development of industrial archaeology in the Netherlands since the mid 1970s. The main focus is on the current situation and prospects for the near future, with special regard to re-use and converting important industrial archaeological buildings to other functions.
