At the time the railroad reached Tucson in 1880, a smali Chinese community arrived and has persisted to the present. The families established stores and, among other things, sold Chinese pottery. During the Tucson Urban Renewal Project excavations in the older part of town, many fragments of this pottery were recovered. This paper lists, illustrates and dates the varieties found and shows manufacturers' stamps with places of origin. Two types of ceramics were stamped, in Chinese characters, Made In Los Angeles. -- AATA
