Abstract
Osaki Hachiman Shrine (Miyagi prefecture) registered as the national treasure was built in about 1610 by the feudal lord, Date Masamune. All members of the building are lacquered and painted with colors. In order to prevent exfoliation of painting layers, the authors applied the non-fluid thixotropic acrylic resin emulsion which could be introduced into the surface between the detached color layer and the ground. -- AATA
