Abstract
The American Museum of Natural History in New York is exhibiting its collection of textiles from ancient Peru. The oldest fragments, from Huaca Prieta, date back to 2000-3000 BC, with twined, looped, and knotted structures predating the loom. Examples of interlocking and slit tapestries, double-weave, and intricate warp-faced patterning are also exhibited. Conservation methods used for this exhibit are noted.
