Abstract
Many samples of surface films were analyzed. In a few cases, a biological origin could be established for several different fungi (the most frequent being <i>exophalia jeanselmi</i>). Many of the samples show a film too regular and too widespread for a biological origin; these films may be the final product of some protective treatments applied by ancient craftsmen.
