A set of richly decorated embroideries preserved in a Belgian church is believed to have originated in southern England around the early 9th century. precursors of the Bayeaux tapestry, they are the subject of an extensive study. This brief article gives a detailed account of the size of the textiles being discussed, how they were assembled, the decorations on each piece, the color and type of threads, what type of stitches were used, and the technique of embroidery.
