In 1975 the laboratory was reopened after a break of 30 years. With the aid of the Volkswagen-Foundation the laboratory was equipped with instruments for energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction, neutron activation, thermoluminescence and scanning electron microscopy. Analytical research concerns pottery, metals, textile dyestuffs and pigments from the fields of ethnology and archaeology. Conservation research is also connected with the problems of ethnological collections and the preservation of monuments. (See also AATA 13-774, 13-775, 14-58, 14-59, and 14-60).
