More than half the material in the collections in the U. K. is in need of conservation, according to the IIC-UKG <i>Report on the subject. Lack of educational institutions and conservators' low salaries are lamented. How-ever, it is noted that no amount of enthusiasm or equipment can make up for that blend of skill and experience, taste and flair that is the mark of the great restorer. -- AATA
