Abstract
To avoid injury to bystanders and operators by firing of historical weapons in Bicentennial celebrations, the weapons were checked for defects by one of the following three methods. The first was x-ray radiography of the cannon or gun. Second was the use of a liquid penetrant to indicate cracks and the third employed inspection with magnetic particles. The methods used in this last procedure are outlined. -- AATA
