Computer applications in Australian archaeology have until recently been primarily concerned with the analysis of specific datasets, using packages such as SPSS to manipulate results of excavations, typological studies, or restricted area surveys. A number of organizations have started to develop computerized database systems for maintaining site registers; an overview of these activities is given. The increased usage of microcomputers has resulted in the adoption of standardized excavation recording. (See also <b>AATA</b> <i>14-791</i>) -- AATA
