Abstract
Querns, mortars, etc., found on Cyprus have been provenanced by thin section petrography and major and trace element analysis (x-ray fluorescence). The late Bronze Age artifacts came from the Levant, although the sources in Syria, Israel, and Jordan cannot be separated by the techniques adopted. Roman millstones derived from both the Levant and the Aegean, probably Nisyros, whose basalt has a distinctively low titanium content. Archaeologically, the Levant basalt source is around Lake Tiberias, Israel (Sea of Galilee). Tables of petrographic and analytical results are included.
