This article is about the many prehistoric settlements with new archaeological monuments discovered each year in southwestern Slovakia. As a result, the published views grow out of date each digging season on the spread of various types of prehistoric objects in this area. This applies also to the spread of Celtic glass armbands; the number of which has doubled in recent years. In southwestern Slovakia alone the authors are familiar with more than 14 localities with finds of Celtic glass armbands totalling over 25 examples. Based on the accompanying inventory of digs, the armbands' presence in Slovakia can be set at the end of the 2nd and beginning of the 1st century B.C. The glass armbands are present most often in graves with weapons or in rich ladies' graves. Noteworthy are the finds of polished forms thought to be the most recent. They were found in the Velka Mana (Vrable district) together with beads of Scythic characters which, like the armbands are made of blue glass.
