Decay of wood or rot is frequently a cause of great damage in houses and buildings, and the conditions conducive to termite attack of wood are also favorable for rot in wood. Accordingly a knowledge of what these conditions are, and of wood preserving, is an essential tool in termite control work. Various types and methods of wood preservatives are discussed.
