Abstract
The gold ornamentation of the Mexican feather headdress was never examined until now. The task of the work under consideration is the determination of the composition and preparation technique of these gold objects which originated in pre-colonial times. The technical examinations were bound closely to concrete ethnological questioning concerning origin, extraction and manufacture of gold in pre-Columbian Mexico and Central America. Thus, this study was executed ethno-chemically--ethnologically as well as chemically.
