The study of the phenomena of diffusion in pure copper and in certain copper alloys is of definite interest, both from the technological stand point (the problem of the compatibility of protective coatings of electrical conductors with the underlying core), and from the theoretical standpoint (illustration of Le Claire's theory, knowledge of the parameters of intergranular diffusion). For this reason, the systematic measurement of the diffusion coefficients of various metals in pure copper and in certain industrially used conductive copper alloys has been undertaken.
