In the course of this work, we show that thermic neuton activation is a very interesting method for the quantitative analysis of trace elements in material supports of writing and in particular in that of paper. The application of this method to the determination of certain impurities in Dutch and Angoulême papers of the second half of the 18th century and of the first ten years of the 19th century has enabled us to distinguish Dutch paper form Angoulême paper.
