Crystals of cuprite, realgar, proustite, pyrargyrite and crocoite only retain their beauty and color and perfect transparency if protected from light. Some minerals need a dry atmosphere and others are only stable in moist air. Pyrites and marcasite require a suitable transparent lacquer to preserve them. Instructions are given on preparing these specimens for display.
