Abstract
A viscoelastic bending model is presented, comprising elementary models based on the hypothesis that looseness between S<sup>1</sup> and S<sub>2</sub> layers in cell walls causes slippage between them during drying. The bending model was used to simulate creep and recovery deflection under cycles of moisture change. The characteristics of viscoelastic deflection obtained from the simulation agreed well with those of published experiments. -- AATA
