Museums should not be sited in vulnerable positions (e.g., in the local flood plain) and should be built to the same construction standards as hospitals. All museums, including those which are well sited, need comprehensive disaster plans which consider both the building and its contents. Feilden provides a list of six administrative measures which form the basis of such a plan.
