Abstract
The first suction table was conceptualized and built by the Weidners in 1974. Because suction tables were not available for purchase those who wanted to use one built their own; the fritted glass bead suction disk (table) was one of those experiments. The fabrication of a simple small suction table (disk) is followed through the preparation and assembly procedure. Many suction table users now divide their treatments into 2 broad categories (1) overall treatments and (2) local treatments. Several local treatments are discussed including, but not limited to: local stain removal, tape adhesive removal, removal of internally crystallized salts and consolidation of painting media.
