A description of the principal methods for the production of tracing papers. One method uses impregnation with oil or resin to give a transparent effect: the so-called prepared tracing papers. The other uses basic paper-making techniques and achieves the transparency without the addition of such chemicals: the natural tracing papers, available from 1950 onwards.
