Abstract
Free metal contaminants degrade cellulose materials during the bleaching process. Experience during post-oxidization of reactive dyed cellulosic yarns indicated local degradation of cotton and rayon yarns. The common factor resulting in the tendering of cellulose was that the reactive dye contained metal complexes in the chromosphere. Evidence is presented to document this phenomenon. -- AATA
