Abstract
Basic research in four selected areas of chemical modification of finishing of cotton is discussed to emphasize ties between basic studies and practical problems, to illustrate the need for and contribution of new methodology, and to bring each phase of the study into focus. Areas studied include the migration of reactant during drying, reverse gel filtration methodology, and an examination of two in-performance features, dyeability and resilience. -- AATA
