Abstract
Some recent studies in textile history are mentioned in which C-14 dating was used as art historical evidence. A few examples of textile studies and literature are discussed in which C-14 dating would have been appropriate. Some suggestions for groups of textiles suitable for C-14 dating are given. An attempt is made to describe attitudes adopted by some scholars still resistant to this method of dating.
